As a luthier based in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, I combine precise craftsmanship, musical experience, and a clear vision for high-quality guitars and plucked-string instruments. Here you can learn more about my background and the work that shapes my instruments.
My name is Florian Hellweg. I have been playing guitar since the age of eight, and by fourteen I had already begun building my first instruments.
Before starting my formal training, I worked small jobs during school holidays, using the money to buy parts and build electric guitars at home. An internship in early 2009 at Siggi Braun Fine Young Guitars confirmed my career path.
From 2009 to 2012, I completed my apprenticeship as a plucked-string instrument maker in Klingenthal/Vogtland.
Since 2010, I have been working independently under the name HEART guitars & more, building handcrafted instruments in my own workshop in
Northern Germany.
2025 marks 15 years of HEART guitars & more.
At the HEART guitars & more Custom Shop, I create custom guitars and plucked-string instruments entirely by hand. Each instrument is crafted from selected tonewoods and individually voiced to provide a unique sound, feel, and character.
I work without CNC machines and rely on traditional hand tools, skilled craftsmanship, and specialised finishing techniques. Finishes are applied using selected stains and either satin or high-gloss lacquer.
Every step—from choosing the tonewood and shaping a personalised neck profile to completing the final finish—is carried out by hand. This approach results in instruments that clearly stand apart from factory-made production.
In my workshop, traditional lutherie methods meet contemporary design and new ideas. This combination results in instruments that unite craftsmanship, tonal quality, and modern aesthetics.
With long-standing experience, my own innovations, and a strong focus on precision, I blend classic construction techniques with forward-looking concepts.
The result is an instrument that matches your playing style, tonal preferences, and musical expression.
If you would like to try an instrument, compare different models, or plan your own custom build,
I look forward to welcome you at the Custom Shop in Tessin, Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, Germany.
